Off The Early Morning Wall

It's a little after six a.m., Christmas Eve morning, and I didn't sleep worth a flip last night. That's me over there, in my Snuggie, sitting at my computer about 2 minutes ago.

I've been reading some stuff that's been said by various Famous People about the SBC and about the GCRTF and what everyone is guessing is going to happen. And, I just commented on one website where there's a new post about the outlook for the SBC and it reminded me of an old joke.

There was this accountant who was an inveterate gambler. He'd gamble on most anything and was always on the lookout for "clues" as to what he ought to bet on.

This one morning he went on an assignment to an office, to conduct a routine monthly financial workup. He noted the address of the building was #555 5th Avenue. 5th floor. Office #55.

Hmm...

When he ran the trial balance and looked at the general ledger (or whatever it is they look at when they do that), all he saw was fives. Everywhere on the page.

He'd had enough. He ran downstairs and jumped into a cab .. and noted it was NYC Cab #5555 .. and rushed to Aqueduct Race Track, getting there just in time to place a bet on the 5th race. So, believing in fate, he cashed a check for everything in his account, and put every penny on horse #5. He then rushed to the rail just in time to watch the race, and particularly horse #5.

It came in 5th.

Just shows to go you .. sometimes you can study all the right information and still come to the wrong conclusion.

I got this feeling..........

Hey Bob!

You look very dashing without the beard. Or maybe you have one and I'm just not seeing it. Anyway, for an old guy, you're looking gooooooood!

Tell me about the Snuggie. You're the first person I haven't met who actually owns one. What's the difference between a normal gown or robe (which has sleeves and a split down the front) and a Snuggie (which has a split at the back)? Doesn't your back get cold?

Bob,
There are two people out there in the world whom I think are probably the most sensible, most reasonable, most qualified individuals in terms of ability to be sensitive to the Spirit's leadership, use common sense, and in so doing, resolve some of the SBC's major issues. If we could just get you and Paul Burleson together, and in a position to serve as a Great Commission Resurgence Task Force of two, with the authority to recommend changes, and the ability to kick a few rear ends when needed, we'd be in good shape.

:-)

Gabe: Snuggie's just a blanket with sleeves built in. Usually, I put my feet in the sleeves, as that keeps them warm, then snuggle in under the blanket part with all the rest of me.

:)

Lee, them's some pretty kind words. Thanks.

Like someone once said, you & I (and Paul) may see that, but what's three people against the WHOLE WORLD?

I'm about to put up a post and lay the blame at the seminaries who teach how to exegete scripture, but don't teach how to instruct folks to be serious about their faith, and insist on that from their congregations.

It seems to have been more about nickels and noses. And counting them.

Oh .. Gabe .. still got the beard. It's just silvery grey is all, which doesn't show up real well in a low-contrast webcam.
